US Navy Memorial:Digital Productions

CLIENT REQUIREMENTS

The nonprofit faced an uncertain future as the global pandemic curtailed its usual in person ceremonies, memorials, and fundraising events. Although the Navy Memorial’s annual premiere event, a black tie gala honoring the Lone Sailor Award honorees had to be canceled, the Memorial looked to Alongi Media to create an hour long program to showcase the achievements of that year’s awardees: General James Mattis and the late singer songwriter Bill Withers. Further, the Navy Memorial sought to bolster its small online presence and stream events and original content to people around the globe.

OUR SOLUTION

With a tight turn around, Alongi Media hit the ground running, researching the honorees, conducting interviews across the country, coordinating with music industry greats (Graham Nash, Aloe Blacc, Ray Parker Jr.), the US Navy Band, and civilian artists to arrange and produce a musical tribute to Bill Withers. Six weeks later the 2020 Lone Sailor Awards Program premiered online. Alongi Media then went to work advising the newly created Navy Memorial Digital Productions team on purchasing equipment, training staff, establishing workflows, overseeing productions and building the confidence that they can sail on their own.

RESULTS

The success of the 2020 Lone Sailor Awards Program led to new sponsorship opportunities for the Navy Memorial. After another successful online only program in 2021, the Navy Memorial could not “go backwards” for 2022. Alongi Media is currently producing an in-person awards dinner that we’ll film and edit into a broadcast for the following week. Since our engagement, US Navy Memorial Digital Productions has seen huge gains in 2021, with Youtube views up 55% and video watch time increasing by 39%.
